Forward to the Year of the Rat

As we approach the Year of the Rat in 2008 (officially Feb 7, 2008 in western calendars) it still surprises me that there are people adopting mixed pair rats and claiming ignorance when they end up with an accidental litter.
It really is rather simple. Most pet keepers will at least ask the question: what sex is the animal? Most pet stores, should know … and with rats, it is so very obvious in unaltered adoption age rats that there should be virtually no thought required to tell a potential adopter what the sex of their new pet is.
